A few pictures of our Chamber Choir’s debut concert at the Westover Hall Hotel in April. I had to scavenge for these a bit after our designated photographer was unexpectedly detained on first aid duties.

Top Tips for Learning Song Lyrics
1. Become familiar with the song, sing it through it as many times as you can outside rehearsals.
2. Start to learn your lyrics as soon as possible so that you don’t become reliant on a printed sheet and have a panic two weeks before a performance.
3. Go for a walk or somewhere with no distractions to learn lyrics so that you won’t be interrupted.
4. Take it bit by bit, learn the first verse, once you have that move to the chorus then the second verse but keep singing it through from the beginning so that you gradually build the song up in your memory.
5. Don’t be daunted, look for repeats in lyrics or patterns which you can remember.
6. Try it out in rehearsals, it doesn’t matter if you get something wrong, you’ll soon be singing it word perfect.
7. Once you know your words a song becomes much more of a pleasure as you can get in a great vocal position, work on dynamics and conveying the meaning behind the lyrics.
Total Voice’s flash mob took many at the village green food market by surprise on Sunday, which was of course the idea. Some choir members had managed to keep the secret from their families, which resulted in some amusing reactions from teenagers whose parents broke into song. A video of the event is available here, but the sound quality isn’t great.

Food Week Success!
Wow, what a weekend for Total Voice! On Friday night we heard the stunning debut from the Chamber Choir at the Westover which was a great success. The choir has obviously worked incredibly hard to achieve so much in such a short space of time, and we look forward to hearing much more.
Yesterday the Contemporary Choir took to the stage at Shorefields for their afternoon tea event. The songs were fabulous and we were not only still standing but word perfect by the end of Elton’s famous number!
Suddenly I See and Ain’t No Mountain had so much energy and will definitely be in our festival line-up.
Finally today we had our secret flash mob singing Food Glorious Food which was lots of fun - always good to get the adrenalin going!
Some videos and photos will be along shortly and if you have any great shots do send them in.
So now we step back to the 1950s for our Jubilee numbers, look forward to seeing you on Thursday.
