Carols round the village Christmas tree

The run-up to Christmas is a wonderful time of year in Milford on Sea.  The village is bustling with activity, typified by the late-night shopping evening last Friday, with street stalls selling food and hot drinks, and of course lots of rousing carol-singing.

The weather was notably kind to us this year, with high winds and rain the night before and the night after, but a crisp, still evening for our gathering.  A large crowd turned out (in part, we hope, because of our presence) and we regaled them with our well-practised Christmas songs.  Even a technical hitch with the backing tracks didn’t dampen the spirits, and our acappella “White Christmas” went down very well.

After our performance came the carol singing.  Everyone sang with gusto, to the extent that we could sometimes not hear the band.  On occasions, the choir and crowd set off at a different tempo to the players, but we usually managed to finish at the same time!

Chris, from Inger Lise’s coffee shop, was kind enough to lay on soup for the choir after the event.  The cafe was packed with happy singers and we hear from Chris that a good sum of money was raised for her charity.

The evening summed up what the Total Voice Contemporary Choir is all about - making wonderful music in the heart of our community.

See you at the Open Mic Night on Thursday!
