The “January Tune-up” workshop went ahead on Saturday, 14th at the Milford Village Community Centre.  We had a fantastic afternoon and everyone really got into the spirit of the event:  singing for well-being.  In the first session, we explored vocal techniques through various exercises, rounds and songs.  Christine and I were so impressed by everyone’s willingness to participate wholeheartedly.

After a break for tea and fairy cakes, we got stuck into learning our main song for the afternoon: Your Love Keeps Lifting Me (Higher & Higher).  We split into groups and learned the three-part harmony for the choruses.  A bit of group work followed where we each came up with a couple of improvised lines for one of the verses.  Finally, we put it all together with a bit of a dance routine and finished off the afternoon with a rousing performance.

We had an amazing time, and the feedback from the group has been fantastic (particularly about the cakes!).  Our thanks go to everyone who came along and made it such a success, and particularly to Richard and Gwen for handling the sound and refreshments so that Christine and I could devote all our time to our wonderful singers.
